For many years now I’ve started my day by drinking a huge glass of water upon rising. It’s a great way to start the day because for one, your body has not had water for 8+ hours and needs it. I noticed that if I go right to food without water first, I feel less awake and more sluggish. The body needs water and bodies *love* water upon rising. If you are a breastfeeding mother, this becomes even more vital–you need lots of water so you body can produce milk.
